Cheese is Made by People

Neil’s Yard Dairy is a mix of fish-shop washed floors and minimalist art gallery in which the cheese mongers’ enthusiasm animated the air.

I was trying still to enjoy the underwhelming vanilla donut I’d just eaten,  but they insisted that I must taste, not just look. And further showing their love for the cheese with annoyance when I wouldn’t eat the rind.

Here they cut the cheese with a wire,  so they could sell tiny amounts (rather then claiming the cheese can’t be cut to a small piece and implying the customer is cheap, as they are wont to do in search of bigger sales at Formaggi Océllo).

And those cheeses grew on me fast. They were so delicate!

And each cheese had the name of the people who  make it.  People,  making  cheese.

Artisan Modern is about the opportunity for meaningful materialism.

The Objectography is a collection of stories about objects – things you’ve kept, things you miss, your relationships with artisans, and quests for specific objects. Sharing these stories inspires new relations to ownership and aquisition.

The directory of Ateliers is an open directory of Artisans, and can be used to search for things you need and want to acquire.

Our Magazine introduces a modern approach to quality work, transactions and objects, and to artisans who are making beautiful food and things with pleasure and ethics.

We offer occasional Numbered Editions which superlatively express the qualities we nurture.
